Elk California CoastElk is a small California coastal village located on Highway One, just south of Mendocino. It is known for its stunning ocean vistas, with rock "haystacks" rising out of the water.

Elk has many activities, including horseback riding on the beach, ocean kayaking and the "Great Day in Elk" celebration at the end of August each year.

There are several restaurants and shops and local art on display. The Elk Community Website lists local events and information on things to do and see in the area.





Mendocino CoastThe picturesque village of Mendocino is located 20 minutes north of Elk. It's nestled next to the Pacific Ocean, with trails leading from the village along the headlands and down to the beach.

Visitors and residents alike enjoy strolling along the streets, visiting local boutiques, art galleries and award-winning restaurants.

In the heart of the village is The Mendocino Art Center offering workshops and gallery exhibits. Local events include a Summer Music Festival, Film Festival, wine tastings and year round live theatre. Mendocino Headlands State Park completely surrounds Mendocino.
